WHO IS MS. MARGIE BLACK?
I have been a teacher in the C.U.S.D. school district for 30 years. I spent 5 years teaching Kindergarten and then moved up to 1st Grade. I have a B.S. in Human Development and an M.S. in Counseling Psychology. Prior to teaching at the elementary level, I spent 12 years teaching at the preschool level. I have been involved in the study of Education Through Music through the Richards' Institute for Learning for over 15 years. I also have received training in Thinking Maps and Restorative Practices in recent years.
In addition to my involvement in Education Through Music, I serve on the Board of Directors for the Doheny State Beach Interpretive Association. I enjoy a variety of fitness activities such as walking, Pilates, and swimming. I also enjoy the arts, such as the theater, museums, and almost all genres of music. I enjoy reading children's literature, presidential biographies and books on the natural sciences. Most evenings, I can be found with The New Yorker magazine by my side, and yes, I always read the cartoons first. I have lived in Dana Point for over 30 years. My daughters both attended Malcom. My oldest daughter is a talented artist and is living in Portland, where I love to visit. My youngest daughter graduated in 2016 from USC and currently works in LA for a web-based social media group and writes fashion articles.
I wake up every day excited about the learning that awaits my students and me.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION YOUR PATIENCE IS APPRECIATED!!
Welcome to my website. This is my first attempt at putting together a website so your patience is appreciated. I will be adding information throughout the year on a regular basis. Please refer to the Malcom calendar for updates on additional events and be sure to sign up for our ListServe so you receive the bulletins from our principal, Dr. Faith Morris.
WATER BOTTLES
I allow children to bring a small water bottle to school. It must have a sports top. It also helps for the water to be at room temperture so condensation does not occur. Your child should bring home the water bottle each day to prevent bacteria from growing.
